Product information
The RØDE NT1 5th Generation is a large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone with a 1-inch HF6 capsule, a cardioid pattern and two ways to connect: an analogue XLR output and a digital USB-C output. It is designed for vocal recording, podcasting, voice-over, music production and content creation. Universal AV Solutions supplies it for studios, creators, corporate teams and video production setups across India.
Key features
RØDE lists a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz, equivalent noise of 4dBA, a maximum SPL of 142dB and an output impedance of 100Ω. The microphone is a side-address design with a cardioid polar pattern, and RØDE's Revolution Preamp is built in. The package includes an SM6 shock mount and pop filter, a 3 m USB-C cable, a 6 m XLR cable and a dust cover.
USB-C versus XLR connection options
The XLR output is analogue. It connects to an audio interface, mixer or other compatible equipment and requires 48V phantom power. The USB-C output is digital. It connects directly to a computer and is powered by the 5V USB connection. You still need compatible recording software and adequate USB power. Use either the XLR output or the USB-C output at one time, not both together.
32-bit float and digital recording
The USB-C digital output supports 24-bit and 32-bit float at sampling rates of 48kHz, 96kHz and 192kHz. 32-bit float applies to the USB digital output, not to the analogue XLR output. The microphone still has a maximum SPL of 142dB, so 32-bit float does not remove all limits on loud sources. Compatibility with 32-bit float depends on your computer, operating system and recording software, so please check RØDE's guidance. The microphone has no listed headphone output, so use your interface, mixer or computer for monitoring.
APHEX processing
The microphone includes on-board APHEX digital signal processing over USB. RØDE states that it is available only at a 48kHz sample rate.
Applications
It suits vocal and music recording, podcasting and voice-over, YouTube and creator studios, acoustic instrument recording, corporate voice recording, video production, and home and professional recording studios.
Included accessories
RØDE lists the microphone, an SM6 shock mount and pop filter, an SC29 3 m USB-C cable, a 6 m XLR cable and a dust cover. RØDE offers the microphone in black and silver, so please confirm the finish when you request a quotation. A microphone stand, boom arm, audio interface and headphones are not included.
Explore our professional audio equipment, microphones and audio mixers, along with video production equipment. If you plan to use the XLR output, you may want to look at mixers such as the Soundcraft EPM6 or the Yamaha MG10XU. These are separate products, so please confirm that phantom power and connections suit your setup.

What is the difference between USB-C and XLR connectivity?
XLR is an analogue output that connects to an audio interface, mixer or other compatible equipment and needs 48V phantom power. USB-C is a digital output that connects directly to a computer and is powered over USB at 5V.
Does it support 32-bit float recording?
Yes, on the USB-C digital output, which supports 24-bit and 32-bit float. The XLR output is analogue. Compatibility with 32-bit float depends on your computer, operating system and recording software, so check RØDE's guidance.
Does it require phantom power?
When used through the XLR output, it needs 48V phantom power (P48). Over USB-C it is powered by the 5V USB connection.
Can USB and XLR be used simultaneously?
No. Use either the XLR output or the USB-C output at one time.
Does the microphone have a headphone output?
No headphone output is listed. Use your audio interface, mixer or computer for monitoring.
What is the frequency response?
